Pakistan Consulate NYC observes Kashmir Solidarity Day, urges UN to implement its resolutions

Kashmiris should be given their right to self-determination according to the resolutions of the United Nations: Event participants demanded

New York: Pakistan Consulate in New York observed ‘Kashmir Solidarity Day’ as the event speakers stressed that peace cannot be established in the region without resolving the longstanding Kashmir dispute, urging the United Nations to implement its resolutions in letter and spirit.

The event – ‘Kashmir Conference’ began with the recitation of the Holy Quran and was attended by Pakistani Americans and people from various walks of life representing the Kashmiri community, in large numbers.

In his address to the participants, Consul General Aamir Ahmad Attozai said that not only Muslims but also other minorities have been exploited in India.

Deputy Consul General Umar Sheikh organized the event. He said that seven decades have passed but the United Nations is failing to implement its resolutions.

A short documentary film based on the incidents of Indian domination and oppression in Occupied Kashmir was also shown at the ceremony.

On this occasion, the Kashmiri leaders said that no matter how much oppression India does, it cannot weaken the courage, determination, and morale of the Kashmiris.

Photographs were also displayed at the conference to highlight various events of brutality at the hands of Indian forces.

Members of the Pakistani community said that wherever Pakistanis live in the world, their hearts beat with Kashmiri brothers and sisters.

The participants of the conference demanded that the international community should play its role to resolve the Kashmir issue and Kashmiris should be given their right to self-determination according to the resolutions of the United Nations.
