Pakistani American Merchants Association organizes Brooklyn Mela on 78 th Independence Day

NEWYORK: The historic Brooklyn festival in New York on Pakistan’s Independence Day concluded which was attended by a large number of Pakistani Americans with great enthusiasm.

Renowned Pakistani actress Reema Khan of the Pakistani film industry also participated in the festival. The audience was enthralled by the performances of famous singers, and many personalities were also conferred awards.

Organized by the Pakistani American Merchants Association, the historic Brooklyn Fair was held on Coney Island Avenue on the occasion of Pakistan’s 78th Independence Day.

The fair began with a parade and salute from a colorful contingent of the New York Police. The event began with the recitation of the Holy Quran and Naat in honor of Prophet Muhammad (Peace Be Upon Him).

A large number of Pakistani American community members participated in the fair. The event was moderated by the head of the Council of People’s Organization, Mohammad Rizvi. The national anthems of America and Pakistan were sung on this occasion.

Several stalls have been set up in which people purchased oriental clothing and jewelry. When  Chairman of the Brooklyn Fair Committee Raja Sajid arrived, he was welcomed with a rousing welcome by playing bhangra to the beat of drums.

Addressing the participants, Raja Sajid congratulated everyone on Independence Day. He said that freedom is a great blessing for the people. The entire committee worked hard for the success of the festival.

The spring of green crescent flags was seen in the ceremony and the participants were also dressed in clothes similar to the colors of the national flag.

The community welcomed New York City Mayor Eric Adams on his arrival like a best friend. The head of COPO, Muhammad Rizvi, presented introduction of NYC Mayor in a wonderful way.

Addressing participants, Mayor Eric Adams congratulated the participants on Independence Day.

Mayor Eric Adams said that the Pakistani community also plays an important role in the construction and development of the city. He always received a lot of love and respect from this community. Muslim Women’s Liaison Officer Atiya Shahnaz was also present.

A live barbeque was prepared for the participants of the Independence Day ceremony, while various types of food and drinks were also arranged.

Pakistani American Merchants Association President Javed Khan, General Secretary Aziz Butt, Pervez Akhtar and Festival Committee President Danish Malik and General Secretary Nader Malik and others were also present. The speakers said that the Brooklyn Fair has the honor of being the oldest fair in American history.

New York City Attorney General Letitia James also participated in Brooklyn. Addressing the participants, she said that we are all like a family, it is my responsibility to protect the legal rights of all of you.

Pakistani-American Inspector Adeel Rana and other police officers, Brooklyn Fair Committee Chairman Raja Sajid and other members were conferred awards, while certificates of appreciation were also presented.

The festival was attended by elected members of the New York state and city councils, including Congresswoman Yvette Clark. The speakers said that there is a very old connection with the Pakistani community and that coming to Little Pakistan always makes you feel accepted.

The Pakistani community participated in the festival in such large numbers, proving that their hearts beat with Pakistan. On this occasion, American officials said that they would continue to work with the community for the betterment of the city.

In Brooklyn, the famous actress of the Pakistani film industry, Reema Khan, participated with her husband. Reema received a grand welcome upon her arrival. In her address to the audience, she called freedom a blessing and appreciated the efforts of Raja Sajid.

The singers sang famous national songs and enthralled the audience with their performance.

Police officers who participated in the Brooklyn festival also expressed their thoughts.

Later, Finally, singer Inzi DX warmed the audience with his lively performance.
