Pakistani American Community of USA organizes historic festival to celebrate Independence Day

NEWYORK: Pakistani American Community of USA organized a historic festival to celebrate Pakistan’s independence at Eisenhower Park in Long Island, New York, which was participated by a large number of the Pakistani community.

The Eisenhower Park was beautifully decorated with green and white flags, banners and lights, which enhanced the glory of Pakistan’s national day.

The ceremony began with the recitation of the Holy Quran, followed by the national anthems.

The ceremony was moderated by General Secretary of the Pakistani American Community of USA Asim Malik.

The event was specially attended by Pakistan’s Consul General in New York, Amir Ahmed Atuzai.

Addressing the participants, the Consul General said that Independence Day reminds us of the sacrifices of our elders and it is a day to pledge that we will remain united for the progress and prosperity of Pakistan.

He appreciated the role of overseas Pakistanis and said that their hard work and love are a source of pride for the country.

Nassau County Executive Bruce Blakeman also addressed the participants and congratulated them on Independence Day.

President of the Pakistani American Community of USA Humayun Shabbir paid tribute to the services of the government of Pakistan, prime minister Shahbaz Sharif and Army Chief General Asim Munir.

He said that the current leadership is leading the country on the path of development and stability and is laying the foundation for a better future for Pakistan in accordance with the public aspirations.

American officials also expressed their views at the ceremony, congratulating Pakistanis on their celebration.

The women and children participating in the festival were dressed in green and white clothes and the national flag was waving everywhere. The audience raised slogans of Long Live Pakistan and expressed their love for the beloved homeland. Some of the participants performed “Bhangra” to the beat of drums.

Renowned singers Ahmed Jahanzeb and Sonia Khan sang beautiful national songs which was enjoyed by the audience.

The stalls of food, clothing and jewelry were also set up for the participants in the festival, which were the center of attention of women, including children.

Senior Advisor to Nassau County Executive Bruce Blakeman, Chaudhury Akram and other officials were also present at the event. Later, citations were also given to the organizers of the program.

The historic and colorful event included it in the historic festivals of the Pakistani community in America. The community leaders participating in the event vowed that they would continue to play their role in raising the prestige of Pakistan and keeping the new generation connected to their values and culture even while living abroad.
