Pakistani American celebrates 250 th US independence day in Brooklyn

NEWYORK: Pakistani American community organized an event to celebrate 250th American independence day at Coney Island Avenue, in Brooklyn.

The organizers of the event were Raja Azad Gul, Zafar Iqbal and Mohammad Rizvi, head of the Council of People’s Organizations.

The event began with the recitation of the Holy Quran by Imam Tahir, the Muslim Chaplain of the New York Police.

Later, prayers were also offered for the development and stability of the country.

A large number of Pakistani American community participated in the ceremony. Participants hoisted the American flag and paid tribute to the 250-year journey of America.

Organizers of the event, Raja Azad Gul and Zafar Iqbal, said that the aim of the event was not only to celebrate independence day but also to strengthen the unity of the Pakistani community and its ties with law enforcement agencies.

The event was also attended by several senior police officers, including the Commanding Chief of the New York Police Department Brooklyn South. Police officials met with the community and appreciated their role in promoting peace, brotherhood and social harmony.

The New York State Assembly also awarded certificates of appreciation to people who have played a prominent role in cooperation between the community and the police, public service and social activities.

Members of the community paid great tribute to the organizers for the successful organization of the event, saying that such events promote unity, positive activities and mutual respect in the community.

A barbecue was specially arranged for the guests on this occasion.

Later, the participants prayed for the progress, peace and prosperity of America and reiterated the commitment of the Pakistani community to unite.

Raja Azad Gul and Zafar Iqbal thanked the participants and said that community activities will be continued with the same spirit in the future as well.
