NEWYORK: The newly elected cabinet of Khyber Society of America has taken oath vowing to serve the community and maintain unity.
The oath-taking ceremony of the newly elected cabinet of the Khyber Society of America was held in New York, in which dignitaries of the Pashtun community, directors of the society, former office bearers, community leaders and a large number of other guests attended.
The event began with the recitation of the Holy Quran.
Former President of the Khyber Society of America Zaman Khan Afridi gave a brief overview of the stages and results of the recent elections and introduced the newly elected President Khalid Khattak, Senior Vice President Sajjad Ahmed Khan, Vice President Abdullah Khan, General Secretary Mohammad Nasir, Joint Secretary Sher Khan, Finance Secretary Mohammad Sohail Malik, Media Cell Incharge Amman Afridi, and Women’s Wing Secretary Rehana Makin Khan to the participants.

The chief guest of the ceremony, Pakistani Consul General in New York, Aamir Ahmed Atuzai, administered the oath to the newly elected cabinet members of the Khyber Society of America.
In this oath-taking ceremony, the newly elected office bearers expressed their determination to discharge their responsibilities with integrity, sincerity and a spirit of community service.
Zaman Khan Afridi congratulated the newly elected cabinet and formally handed over the reins of the organization to the new leadership. He said that the Khyber Society is an organization with an unblemished past and is engaged in human welfare work.
The newly elected President Khalid Khattak thanked the founding members, former office bearers and community members of the society, expressed his determination that the new cabinet will make every effort to make the organization more active, strong and an effective platform for public service.
Pakistani Consul General in New York Aamir Ahmed Atuzai said that the new team will take the organization to new heights of development by utilizing its skills and experience.

Later, General Secretary Mohammad Nasir expressed his views regarding future goals, community welfare projects and organizational activities.
The speakers reiterated the commitment that the Khyber Society of America will play a more effective role in promoting community unity, education, social welfare and cultural traditions. They also stressed the need for involving the younger generation in organizational activities and joint efforts to solve community problems.
A documentary on the welfare works of the Khyber Society of America was also shown at the event.
Later, the participants thoroughly enjoyed Pashto folk music. The event concluded with a pleasant atmosphere, mutual understanding and unity and a commitment to community development, while the participants expressed their best wishes for the newly elected cabinet and hoped that the new leadership would lead the society to further successes.
