Fourth interfaith Iftar Dinner held at Coney Island Avenue

NEWYORK: Several social organizations organized the fourth annual Interfaith Iftar Dinner at Coney Island Avenue in which people belonging to different religions and communities participated.

The event organized in collaboration with various social and interfaith organizations at a local restaurant in Coney Island Avenue aimed to bring people of different religions and cultures on one platform in accordance with the spirit of the month of Ramadan, promote mutual respect and strengthen harmony within the community.

The event began with the recitation of the Holy Quran followed by the Naat in honor of Prophet Muhammad (Peace Be Upon Him).

Founder of Pakistani American Skilled Women Organization Atiya Shahnaz moderated the event.

She welcomed the guests and said that such programs promote dialogue and mutual respect between different faiths and cultures and strengthen unity and solidarity in the community.

Addressing the participants, District 45 Councilwoman Farah Louis said that Ramadan is a sacred time of reflection, gratitude and community unity, and such events bring people of different faiths closer to each other.

In addition to people from the Hindu, Jewish, Christian and Muslim communities, the iftar dinner was also attended by local American officials and social figures.

Participants discussed the importance of Ramadan, the spirituality of fasting and interfaith harmony. A prayer song was also performed on the occasion.

An interesting Islamic quiz competition was also organized during the program, in which various questions related to religious knowledge were asked.

The participants participated in the competition with enthusiasm and gifts and prizes were also distributed to those who gave correct answers.

A collective prayer was offered at the end of the program.

The participants, while enjoying the Iftar dinner, expressed their determination that such interfaith programs will be continued in the future so that love, respect and mutual cooperation between different communities can be further promoted.
