ROME:Pakistan, Italy, Spain and Greece have agreed on a coordinated strategy against illegal migration, human smuggling and narcotics, including a joint policy framework and rapid-response mechanism.
This came at a meeting of Pakistan’s interior minister Mohsin Naqvi with his counterparts from Italy, Spain and Greece at the 4-nation conference on curbing illegal migration in Rome.
European partners appreciated Pakistan’s strong actions, noting a 47 percent reduction in illegal migration, and agreed on enhanced EU-supported capacity building.
Consensus also reached on promoting legal pathways to effectively counter illegal migration, repatriation of criminals to face the law, and holding the next meeting in Pakistan later this year.
