NEWYORK: A well-known businessman and social figure of the Pakistani-American community Ijaz Shahid hosted a dinner in an honor of Chairman Senate Yousuf Raza Gilani and Pakistan People Party Senator Saleem Mandviwala, who are on US visit.
PPP US leadership and the Pakistani American community members attended the reception held at a local hotel in Manhattan, New York.
Addressing the participants, former prime minister and chairman Senate Yousaf Raza Gilani said that the sacrifices of the leadership of the PPP are more than the workers. He said that party leadership kept the party alive by sacrificing their lives and now chairman Bilawal is also reorganizing it while maintaining the party tradition.
Gilani presented a shield to PPP USA leader Khalid Awan in recognition of his party services, while host Ijaz Shahid was also given a special gift.
Khalid Awan briefed the PPP leaders about the organizational performance of Pakistan Peoples Party USA and the ongoing activities for the community. He expressed his determination to further strengthen the party and highlight the issues of overseas Pakistanis.
Other office bearers and workers of Pakistan Peoples Party were also present on this occasion, who welcomed the meeting with the leadership and stressed on promoting mutual relations.
The participants also discussed Pak-US relations, issues of overseas Pakistanis and the role of the community on this occasion.
