Pakistan-Saudi strategic defence agreement to deepen cooperation: PM

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan’s prime minister Shehbaz Sharif said that Pakistan hopes that the recent Strategic Mutual Defence Agreement with Saudi Arabia will further strengthen the strategic, economic, trade and defence ties between the two countries.

He was talking to a delegation of Saudi Shura Council led by its Chairman Dr. Abdullah bin Mohammed bin Ibrahim Al-Sheikh in Islamabad.

PM welcomed the delegation’s visit to Pakistan and conveyed his best wishes to the Saudi King, Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al-Saud and prayed for his good health and well-being.

He said the vision of the Saudi Crown Prince and Prime Minister Mohammed bin Salman for the development of Saudi Arabia is commendable.

He said under Mohammed bin Salman’s leadership, Saudi Arabia has set an example of development in every field especially the economic and social sector and empowerment of women.

Chairman of the Saudi Shura Council termed the recent Strategic Mutual Defence Agreement between Pakistan and Saudi Arabia as very important and said that this agreement is a reflection of the long-standing brotherly relations between the two countries.

He stressed the importance of further strengthening parliamentary relations between the two countries.

The meeting agreed to promote the exchange of parliamentary delegations between Pakistan and Saudi Arabia.
