French President formally announces to recognize state of Palestine

NEWYORK: President of France Emmanuel Macron has formally announced to recognize state of Palestine.

Speaking at the United Nation in New York, he said the time for peace has come and that nothing justifies the ongoing war in Gaza.

Belgium, Luxembourg, Malta, Andorra and San Marino are also due to recognize a Palestinian state during the current UN General Assembly session.

Earlier, the United Kingdom, Canada, Australia and Portugal had announced recognition of Palestinian state.
