Pakistan, Bangladesh agree to promote interfaith harmony

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan and Bangladesh have agreed to constitute a joint working group for the promotion of interfaith harmony between the two countries.

This came at a meeting between federal minister for religious affairs and interfaith harmony Sardar Mohammad Yousaf and a delegation of Bangladesh led by Adviser on religious affairs A.F.M. Khalid Hussain in Islamabad.

Sardar Mohammad Yousaf proposed the exchange of the visits of Ulema and students of Madaris with Bangladesh.

He said the relationship between the two countries is based on centuries of shared traditions, Islamic heritage, social values, and literary expression.

The minister said improvement in the bilateral relations between Pakistan and Bangladesh will prove useful for the region as well.

Khalid Hussain said steps will be taken to promote mutual cooperation between the ministries of religious affairs of both the countries.

The Bangladeshi delegation expressed deep sorrow over the loss of lives and property due to floods in Pakistan.
