NEWYORK: Pakistan’s Defense Minister Khawaja Asif assured the Pakistani community that the government will take immediate and concrete steps to solve their problems.
He was speaking at a program held at Pakistan Consulate in New York. The purpose of the event was to meet the Pakistani community and better understand their problems and needs.
Defense minister Khawaja Asif appreciated the role of overseas Pakistanis and highlighted the steps taken by the government of Pakistan to resolve their problems.
He said that Pakistan does not need to borrow from anyone and the country would not have reached the brink of being bankrupt if there was honesty and true love for the country.
He assured that Pakistani community that government was committed for their welfare and wellbeing and all possible efforts were being made to resolve the problems being faced by the overseas Pakistanis.
Chairman of Overseas Pakistani Foundation, a federal institution of the Government of Pakistan, Syed Qamar Raza highlighted the ongoing projects and initiatives for the welfare of overseas Pakistanis.
Pakistan People’s Party US President Khalid Awan and Pakistan Muslim League (N) US President Rohail Dar were also present on this occasion and both leaders expressed their views while representing the community.
Various topics were discussed during the event and suggestions were made regarding the difficulties faced by Overseas Pakistanis, improvement of diplomatic services, and making consular services more effective.
At the end of the ceremony, the participants appreciated the organizers of the event for arranging an important meeting and thanked the staff of the consulate for making it possible and provided an opportunity to them to present their point of views.
