NEWYORK: US Senator Cory Booker said that the voice of Pakistani Americans in the civic life of America should be more effective and powerful.
He was addressing the event organized by American Pakistani Affairs Committee on the occasion of Pakistan’s 79th Independence Day as the keynote speaker.
American Pakistani Public Affairs Committee organized the event in Westbury, New York. The event began with the recitation of the Holy Quran. The national anthems of America and Pakistan were also sung on the occasion.
Upon the arrival of Senator Cory Booker, APAC Chairman Dr. Ijaz Ahmed warmly welcomed him.

Addressing the participants, APAC Chairman Dr. Ijaz Ahmed said that the month of August holds special significance for every Pakistani, which reminds us of freedom, justice and equality and adherence to democratic values.
He said that Senator Cory Booker has always raised his voice without discrimination for the deprived class and we are proud of our friendship with him.
Senator Cory Booker, warmly shook hands with the leadership, directors, board members, youth wing and prominent figures of the community and also had a light conversation.
Addressing the audience, Senator Cory Booker said that the Pakistani community here has successfully fulfilled its dreams, always considered America its home and never gave the impression that they understand any difference between America and Pakistan.

A large number of Pakistani Americans associated with political, social and business circles attended the event.
APAC President Dr. Pervaiz Iqbal and Dr. Hadi described Senator Cory Booker as the best friend of the Muslims and the Pakistani community.
They said that Pakistani Americans have shown unique performance in every field and have played an important role in the development of America.
APAC Trustees and Advisors Professor Faizan Haq, Dr. Mahmood Alam and Naheed Bhatti also addressed the Independence Day ceremony.
The speakers said that the foundation of American independence includes the blood of Muslims. APAC has helped the Muslim and Pakistani community move forward in every field, including politics, and that is its own example.
Earlier, President of the Muslim Officers Society of the New York Police Deputy Inspector Waheed Akhtar paid tribute to Senator Cory Booker for raising his voice against Islamophobia.
Later, the famous Qawwal Mustafa Brothers from the Abu Mohammad Family performed a unique Sufi poetry.
