BRAMPTON: Pakistan’s over 60 team defeated South Africa’s veteran team in IMC Over-60s Cricket World Cup 2026 by six wickets in a match played at the Andrew McCandless Cricket Ground in Brampton, Canada.
This was consecutive fourth win of green shirts in the tournament that led the team into semi-final.
Pakistan’s over 60 team captain Fawad Ijaz Khan won the toss for the third time in a row and elected to field first, which proved to be the right decision once again.
The South African team struggled to score runs against the Pakistani bowlers.
Ross Holing was the most outstanding batsman with 29 runs off 48 balls, while Peter Marks scored 16 runs.
Due to organized bowling in the middle overs, South Africa’s innings ended at 133 runs for 8 wickets in the stipulated 45 overs.

Saghir Abbas and Jaffer Qureshi were prominent among the Pakistani bowlers and both took two wickets each. Syed Zafar Ali, Munawar Jaffery and Shahid Ahmed took one wicket each.
Chasing a modest target of 134 runs, Pakistan suffered the loss of Mazhar Hussain’s wicket in the second over, however, Sajid Ali played a responsible innings of 38 runs off 70 balls.
Saghir Abbas also performed well in batting after bowling and played an innings of 34 runs off 59 balls.
Raja Arshad Hayat also contributed 23 runs. Paul du Plessis took two wickets for South Africa, but he could not stop Pakistan from chasing the target and Pakistan achieved the target with six wickets remaining in 33.2 overs. Pakistan’s Saghir Abbas was declared as Man of the Match.
