NEWYORK: An eighth annual Hussain Day was observed with devotion and respect in the memory of the grandson of the Prophet Muhammad (Peace Be Upon Him), Hazrat Imam Hussain, and the martyrs of Karbala, organized by the Al-Fatima Islamic Center of Albany.
A large number of mourners, including women, elders and children, participated in the procession. Various associations mourned the martyrs of Karbala and offered offerings of respect.
The mourners participating in the procession, especially young children, were carrying the image of the flag. Security arrangements were also made at the procession’s routes.
New York Albany Mayor Dr. Dorsey Applyrs a representative of the New York State Legislator Gabriella Romero, and Congressman Paul Tonko spoke. The speakers said that Imam Hussain made an unparalleled sacrifice with his loved ones in Karbala.
Maryam Hussain and Sakina Tariq, among the young speakers, shed light on the incident of Karbala and the life of Imam Hussain. They said that even today, the message of Hussain is resonating in the world. The message of Karbala is about supporting the truth, loving humanity, and living life according to Islamic principles.
Later, Dr. Imdad Hussain and Hasnain Shah expressed their gratitude to all the volunteers, guests, and the Governor of New York. The procession passed through its designated routes and ended at City Hall. After the prayer, Niaz was distributed by Naveed Shah.
