NEWYORK: More than 950 graduates have been sworn in as police officers in the New York Police Department. Fazal Ibrahim, a young man from the Pakistani American community, became the third generation of his family to become a police officer.
The passion to join the police force has started growing in the Pakistani American community in New York.
Now the younger generation is following in the footsteps of their elders and continuing the tradition of joining the police force.

The ceremony held at Madison Square Garden began with the American national anthem, a salute by the police force and a traditional band.
The ceremony was attended by New York City Mayor Zoharan Mamdani, Police Commissioner Jessica Tisch, senior officers, newly recruited youth and their families.
Addressing the participants, Mayor Zoharan Mamdani and Commissioner Jessica Tisch appreciated the role of the Police Academy in training the younger generation and described the NYPD as the best department.
A total of 971 new officers from different communities have been recruited in the New York Police Department, including Pakistani-American Fazal Ibrahim, who continued the family tradition of his father and uncle by joining the police force and gave the message that he has inherited the passion for protecting citizens.

A short video was also shown to the participants of the ceremony on the professional affairs and duties of the police. On this occasion, the new police officers were sworn in.
