NEWYORK: The New York Police Department has promoted officers in various departments to the next positions. South Asian officers are also among the promoted officers.
The promotion ceremony of officers to the next positions was held at the New York Police Department headquarters at One Police Plaza. The event began with the American national anthem and police forces marched and saluted.
Police Commissioner Jessica Tisch and other senior officers were also present at the ceremony.
Addressing the audience, Jessica Tisch congratulated the promoted officers and expressed the expectation that they will perform their professional responsibilities better than before.
Several officers from the South Asian community posted in the police department also received promotions to their next positions.
Among them, Pakistani-American Saghir Ahmed and Mohammad Shan were promoted to the ranks of sergeants, while Jawad Javed and Arsalan Suleman were promoted to the ranks of lieutenants.
The promoted officers dedicated their success to their parents and the community.
The oath was taken from the promoted officers at the ceremony.
The families of the police officers were also present on the occasion, whose presence doubled their happiness.
Indian origin Mohsin Javed was promoted to the rank of lieutenant, Samrat Sandhu was promoted to sergeant, and Bangladeshi origin Ali Hussain was also promoted to sergeant.
The first Pakistani-American inspector posted in the New York Police Department, Adeel Rana, who also attended the ceremony, congratulated his fellow officers on their promotions to their next positions and gave them new ranks.
