Pakistan’s president Zardari felicitates Sri Lanka on Independence Day

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan’s president Asif Ali Zardari has extended warm felicitations to Sri Lankan President Anura Kumara Dissanayake, the government and the people of Sri Lanka on the occasion of Sri Lanka’s Independence Day.

In his message, he said Sri Lanka’s Independence Day is a symbol of unity, national dignity and resilience.

He noted that the friendship between Pakistan and Sri Lanka is time tested and has withstood the test of time.

Asif Ali Zardari referred to the important role played by Pakistan’s armed forces in supporting Sri Lanka’s fight against terrorism.

He praised Sri Lanka’s commendable role in promoting South Asian cooperation.

The President expressed regret over the prolonged suspension of SAARC summits due to India.

Asif Ali Zardari emphasized the need for Pakistan and Sri Lanka to work together for South Asian security and the revival of SAARC.

He expressed the confidence that the bilateral relations between Pakistan and Sri Lanka would continue to grow stronger.
