Pakistan increases shrimp production projects to get benefit from US$ 8 billion shrimp import

NEWYORK: Pakistan Peoples Party Senator Rana Mahmoud-ul- Hassan said that government has started working on projects to increase shrimp production to take advantage of the $8 billion annual shrimp import market in the United States.

He was speaking at a dinner organized in his honor by American Pakistani Public Affairs Committee.

APPAC organized a dinner in honor of Senator Rana Mahmood-ul-Hassan, who came to the United States from Pakistan on a parliamentary visit, at the residence of APPAC Chairman Dr. Ijaz Ahmed in New York. Dr. Ijaz Ahmed introduced his organization and members.

During the meeting, Pak-US relations, Pakistan’s political and economic situation were discussed.

 Senator Mahmood-ul-Hassan said that there is a potential of $8 billion in the shrimp import market in the United States, from which Pakistan is taking steps to take full advantage.

The dinner was attended by APPAC Board of Directors, members and prominent figures of the Pakistani American community.

Senator Mahmoodul Hassan praised the efforts of APPAC. He said that the hearts of overseas Pakistanis beat with Pakistan, we want better relations with the United States.

APPAC leaders Dr. Hadi, Athar Tirmizi, Naheed Bhatti, Asad Chaudhry and others highlighted the aims and objectives of the establishment of APPAC and its achievements.

The speakers said that the importance of the Pakistani community living in the United States has now increased. Therefore, it is important that they are involved in the politics here at the civic, state and federal levels.

APPAC officials further said that the Pakistani community should be represented in politics here, problems can be solved through participation in the political system and stable relations.

The dinner was attended by Dr. Ghulam Mujtaba, Sarwar Chaudhry, Tanveer Chaudhry and other community leaders associated with various political parties of Pakistan.

They said that overseas Pakistanis play an important role in the country’s development. They said that there is a need to improve the democratic system in Pakistan. They said that Pakistani youth in America cannot succeed without joining politics here.

Other speakers also expressed their views and appreciated the services of APPAC under the leadership of Chairman Dr. Ijaz Ahmed.

Earlier, Senator Mahmoodul Hassan invited APPAC to visit Pakistan, to which Chairman Dr. Ijaz Ahmed said that in the near future, an APPAC delegation will visit Pakistan along with a US Congressman and Deputy Speaker.
