NEWYORK: Overseas Pakistanis in New York have staged a massive protest over the disappearance of legal documents of overseas Pakistanis’ properties in Mandi Bahauddin city of Punjab province.
The Pakistan Overseas Forum has announced that they will continue their legal battle until they achieve their legal rights in this matter.
Overseas Pakistanis took exception over the occupation of their land and unlawful restrictions on the sale and purchase of their land in Chak No-51 Mandi Bahahuddin Punjab.
They questioned restrictions on the sale and purchase of property in Chak No. 51 in Mandi Bahauddin district of Punjab, subject to the permission of the commissioner.
Addressing a press conference at a local restaurant in Coney Island Avenue, Pakistan Overseas Forum Chairman Shahid Raza Ranjha and Vice Chairman Ghulam Diwan Mustafa discussed the land dispute in Mandi Bahauddin and the case of one of the affecfee Mahfooz Bhallun Nirgana.
They said that no one has occupied Mahfooz Bhallun’s land, but a clerk of the department and corrupt elements have tried to occupy his land. They said that it has been one and a half years since the ban on the sale and transfer of land has been imposed.
A large number of overseas Pakistanis from Mandi Bahauddin attended the press conference.
Plaintiff of the case Mahfooz Bhalun Nirgana alleged that influential clerk Mehboob Rana had misplaced the land documents, while senior advocate Iftikhar Tarar said that action should be taken not only against the clerk but also against the assistant and deputy commissioner.
President of the Muslim Officers Society of the New York Police Deputy Inspector Waheed Akhtar, and other overseas Pakistanis suggested that a task force and a committee be formed to protect the lands in Mandi Bahauddin.
The participants of the press conference stressed the need to lift the ban on buying and selling of property and joint efforts for restoring the land of the overseas Pakistanis from illegal occupations.
