Pakistan’s Permanent Mission to the United Nations, consulate general New York observe Youm-e-Istehsal to express solidarity with Kashmiri people

NEWYORK: Pakistani Mission to the United Nations and the Consulate General in New York observed Youm-e-Istehsal (exploitation day) to express solidarity with the innocent and oppressed Kashmiris who have been facing the long-standing Indian atrocities in Indian occupied Jammu and Kashmir.

On the occasion of the sixth anniversary of India’s illegal and unilateral actions of August 05, 2019, the Permanent Mission of Pakistan to the United Nations and the Consulate General of Pakistan, New York jointly organized a ceremony.

The event, titled “Unresolved Jammu and Kashmir Dispute: A Threat to Regional Peace and Security,” was held at the Chancery Building of the Consulate General of Pakistan in NYC. The ceremony began with the recitation of the Holy Quran.

A special message from President of Pakistan Asif Ali Zardari was read out at the ceremony, in which he said that Pakistan will continue its political, diplomatic and moral support for the right of the Kashmiri people to self-determination.

The messages from Prime Minister Mohammad Shehbaz Sharif and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar were also read out in which India’s actions on August 5 were described as a clear violation of international law and United Nations resolutions.

A documentary was also shown to highlight the Indian atrocities on the Kashmiri people, which highlighted human rights violations in IIOJK.

Pakistan’s Permanent Representative at the UN Asim Iftikhar said that  the Jammu and Kashmir dispute is a serious threat to peace and security in the region. He said that we are trying to stop the exploitation that is happening in Kashmir.

Pakistan’s Consul General in New York Amir Ahmed Atuzai said that we need to talk about the Kashmiri people and raise our voice for them so that the world can realize the difficulties they are facing.

Representatives of different countries, high-ranking officials serving in the United Nations and members of the Kashmiri community attended the event in large numbers and expressed their views.

Later, the participants reiterated their commitment and express solidarity with the Kashmiri people and called on the international community to play its role in reversing the Indian government’s actions and resolving the Kashmir issue in accordance with UN resolutions.
