NEWYORK: US Senator Cory Booker has said that America is a land of immigrants and emphasized that the role of immigrants is very important for the development of the country.
He was addressing a meet and greet event organized in his honor by the American Pakistani Public Affairs Committee.
The meet and greet event was organized at the residence of Nick Saleem in honor of Senator Cory Booker, a Democrat elected from New Jersey, under the auspices of APPAC.
APPAC Chairman Dr. Ijaz Ahmed, Dr. Pervaiz Iqbal, Nick Saleem, Dr. Mahmood Alam, Dr. Mubashir Chaudhry, Dr. Inam-ul-Haq and Professor Faizan Haq, who were part of the host committee, welcomed the Senator Cory Booker on his arrival.
APPAC Chairman Dr. Ijaz Ahmed said that Senator Cory Booker is one of the top legislators who were working for the betterment of the Muslim community.
Senator Cory Booker emphasized that immigrants play an important role in the development and progress of America, and the current government’s strict policies for immigrants are not appropriate.
Regarding Democratic Party’s future, the participants shared concerns about the direction and inclusiveness of the Democratic Party and suggested that there is a need for bold leadership that embraces diversity and brings everyone to the table.
Senator Booker agreed and expressed his commitment to pushing for a more inclusive and forward-looking agenda.
Senator Booker also expressed interest in visiting Pakistan as part of a senatorial delegation when the opportunity arises.
APPAC President Dr. Pervaiz Iqbal said that the illegal immigrants is certainly a problem, but in the current situation, the entire immigrant community is afraid, and it is necessary to find out a solution.
The event was attended by APPAC board members and prominent figures from the community.
Dr. Mahmood Alam and others pointed out political issues and also expressed the hope that Senator Cory Booker would definitely raise these issues with his party leadership.
APPAC’s board member Asad Chaudhry expressed gratitude Senator Cory for the appointment of Muslim judges and also raised question as what plans are being made for the future as many jobs are disappearing in the era of technology, while Nick Saleem expressed gratitude to Senator Cory Booker for his presence.
Later, Senator Cory Booker met with the community members and posed for photos with everyone.
