NEWYORK: President of the Bar Association of New York City Mohammad Usman Faridi hosted a luncheon reception in honor of the Chief Justice of Pakistani administered Azad Jammu and Kashmir, Raja Saeed Akram Khan who is on visit to US.
Mohammad Usman Faridi got visited the Chief Justice of AJK to various departments of the Bar Association, where he was briefed on the working procedures of the Bar and details related to international legal affairs.
Constitutional and legal experts and other office bearers of the Bar Association also participated in the meeting.
The current situation of Kashmir and its historical background were also discussed in the meeting.
Chief Justice Raja Saeed Akram Khan made it clear in his speech that Kashmir is an integral part of Pakistan. He said that worst human rights violations are taking place in the Indian Occupied Jammu and Kashmir and the Kashmiri people should get their rights.
The Chief Justice emphasized that the Kashmir issue is a key issue for the establishment of peace in South Asia and its peaceful resolution is inevitable.
He said that United Nations should implement the Security Council resolutions to resolve the Kashmir issue and take effective steps to ensure the right of self-determination for the Kashmiri people.
The Chief Justice of Azad Jammu and Kashmir expressed his gratitude to the Bar Association of New York City. Chief Justice Raja Saeed Akram Khan also presented a shield to the President of the Bar Association, Mohammad Usman Farid.
