NEWYORK: Pakistan’s deputy prime minister and foreign minister Mohammad Ishaq Dar met with the President of the UN General Assembly, Philémon Yang, in New York.
Deputy Prime Minister reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to strengthening global governance, UN Security Council reform, and multilateralism.
He conveyed Pakistan’s serious concerns over India’s aggressive posturing, disinformation campaigns, and violations of the Indus Waters Treaty, which, he stressed, poses a threat to the regional peace and stability.
Both sides underscored the importance of comprehensive reforms to make the United Nations more effective, inclusive, and responsive.
Ishaq Dar commended the President of the UN General Assembly’s leadership in this regard, particularly in advancing the Pact for the Future and the UN80 Initiative, and reiterated Pakistan’s support for a reformed multilateral system capable of addressing contemporary global challenges.
