NEWYORK: In another step towards social service, the Council of People’s Organization in New York has established an adult day care center for the senior citizens in Brooklyn.
The social organization COPO, which is engaged in human service regardless of color and race, has opened a day care center for the senior citizens at the junction of Coney Island Avenue and Avenue O. The opening ceremony began with the recitation of the Holy Quran and Naat in honor of Prophet Muhammad (Peace Be Upon Him).
The event was hosted by COPO Chairman Mohammad Rizvi, and was attended by prominent figures from the Pakistani American community and American officials.
Addressing participants, Mohammad Rizvi said that when he got this place, it was a Russian nightclub, but it was closed after COVID, and now we have converted it into a great adult daycare.
New York City Deputy Mayor Ana Almanzar attended the event as a special guest.
Addressing participants, she said she appreciated COPO’s social services. She said that the city government is ensuring to protect the basic rights of its people.
New York City Public Advocate Jumanne Williams, Council Member Rita Joseph, and Council Member Farah Louis congratulated the entire COPO team on the establishment of the daycare center. The speakers said that facilities should be created for the community as much as possible.
A large number of senior citizens also participated in the ceremony. On this occasion, American officials said that it is the responsibility of all of us to play our part in the completion of public interest projects.
The first Pakistani-origin inspector in the New York Police Department, Adeel Rana, also attended the inauguration ceremony of the day care. In his speech to the participants, he said that Mohammad Rizvi and his family have always been at the forefront of community services.
The participants of the ceremony expressed the hope that the establishment of the daycare center will create convenience for the senior citizens. American officials presented certificates of appreciation to the head of COPO, Mohammad Rizvi, for community services.
