NEWYORK: The Pakistani-American community announced to support Zoharan Mamdani, the first Muslim candidate for mayor of New York City. The community pledged to make Zoharan Mamdani successful in the forthcoming June 24 Mayor election.
A large number of Pakistani community members gathered in support of Zohran Mamdani, when he arrived at Mecca Masjid in Coney Island during his campaign. The participants took out rally along with Mamdani, which later converted into public meeting.
The event was moderated by the president of the American Pakistani Advocacy Group Ali Rashid, while other prominent figures from the community also participated.
Addressing participants, Ali Rashid and Zakaria Khan said that wherever the election contest takes place, the real decision has to be made by the voters. They said that we have our representative candidate, now it is the responsibility of the voters to make him successful.
Mayor candidate Zohran Mamdani said that he believes in equal rights, freedom, justice and security and that these rights should also be enjoyed by Palestinians.
The Pakistani community was very excited and hopeful to see Zohran Mamdani among them.
Addressing participants, the speakers said that practical steps are necessary for real change, and our problems cannot be solved without using the power of the vote.
New York City Public Advocate Jumanne Williams and Comptroller candidate Justin Brannan said that they will make this city livable and protect the rights of immigrants.
The Pakistani community has reiterated its firm commitment to vote for Zohran Mamdani on June 24 and make him a successful candidate for mayor.
