Pakistan will not sit idle if India tries to use water as weapon, Bilawal

NEWYORK: Pakistan Peoples Party Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari has strongly criticized Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi over his reported remarks on revoking of water treaty and said that Pakistan will not sit idle by if India tries to stop Pakistan’s water or use it as a weapon.

Talking to journalists as the head of Pakistan’s diplomatic mission in New York, Bilawal Bhutto Zardari raised important points in respect of Indian aggression. He said that the steps taken by India in Kashmir, especially in the model of settlers, are influenced by Israel.

Bilawal Bhutto said that if Pakistan’s water is stopped, how can we sit silent? We will not allow India to stop Pakistan’s water, we will not allow water to be used as a weapon. He also termed the Indian aggression as a clear violation of international agreements.

Bilawal stressed that the main reason for the tension in the region is the lack of a solution to the Kashmir issue. He expressed regret over India’s border violation, false allegations and spreading fake news.

He said that India also targeted mosques in the attack and Pakistan showed restraint by shooting down only six of its aircrafts.

The PPP chairman highlighted India’s efforts to destabilize Pakistan, especially in Balochistan and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, by engaging in terrorism, providing financial and military support to terrorist groups and creating instability through its intelligence agency RAW.

He said that Pakistan has presented evidence of this to the international community. Bilawal Bhutto made it clear that Pakistan wants peace and is ready to talk on every issue, but not on India’s conditions.

He said that negotiations are the only way to peace. “We do not want war but will not compromise on national interests and the right of Kashmiris to self-determination,” he said.

Bilawal Bhutto Zardari also praised the important role of the US President and the secretary of the state in establishing a ceasefire between India and Pakistan. He said that Pakistan has economic cooperation agreements with the US and China, while President Trump now wants a comprehensive trade agreement with Pakistan.
