Fundraising dinner held for providing scholarship to talented students of Pakistan

CHICAGO: A grand fundraising dinner was organized for National University of Modern Languages NUML, in Naperville, a suburb of Chicago, with the aim of providing scholarships to deserving talented students from Pakistan.

The event was organized by the NUML Scholarship Club USA at the Embassy suites hotel which was attended by more than a hundred people.

The event began with the recitation of the Holy Quran, after which the principal organizer Usman Kosar and his wife welcomed the distinguished guests.

The chief guests included Senator Waleed Iqbal and renowned social leader Sajjad Burki, who highlighted the importance of education and the mission of NUML University.

The participants were informed that the annual tuition fee for a student is $3,500 and the total cost of a four-year program is $14,000. The speakers said that NUML University is providing higher education opportunities to talented and underprivileged students from every corner of Pakistan.

An auction of Imran Khan’s signed cricket bat, ball and photo was also held at the event and the auction money was added to the NUML Fund.

The host committee comprising Chaudhry Munir Akhtar, Rehana Munir, Talha Bhatti, Shanila Ali, and Raheela Ali also appealed to the participants to make donations generously.

Sajjad Burki said that if we adopt a little frugality in our daily lives, the burden of a student’s education can be easily borne.

Senator Waleed Iqbal, in his address, gave a comparative review of the vision of Pakistan’s movement leader and poet of the East Allama Mohammad Iqbal and Pakistan Tehrik-e-Insaf founder Imran Khan and said that the mission of both personalities is education and nation building.

Later, the performance of renowned singer Ali Haider entertained the audience and made the event memorable. Several business and social leaders of the Pakistani American community of Chicago land announced that they would take up the responsibility of providing scholarships to at least 10 students.
