NYC Public Advocate Jumaane Williams assures to resolve Muslim community problems

Public advocate Williams visits Mecca Masjid

NEWYORK: New York city Public Advocate Jumaane Williams visited the Mecca Masjid at Coney Island, Brooklyn, where he met with the Muslim community and interacted with locals.

A prominent social figure in the Pakistani community and Deputy Public Advocate Kashif Hussain was also present on the occasion.

Jumaane Williams listened to the community’s problems and assured all possible cooperation to resolve them.

Jumaane Williams announced that he is again contesting for the post of public advocate and will stand up for every voice that was not being heard in difficult times.

He said that nowadays we were facing great challenges from the White House to City Hall. He said that as a public advocate his duty is to be the voice of those who were being ignored. He said that his opponents are people who fail to elevate the humanity of all.

Regarding October 7 Palestine issue, he said that we must speak out about the devastation in Gaza, because it is a matter of saving humanity.

He said that unfortunately many of his colleagues are silent about violation of human rights. Referring Mahmoud Khalil, he said that he should have been observing Ramadan with his family but the recent situation have created difficulties.

Emphasizing religious harmony, Jumaane Williams said that he gives the same message in every place of worship that everyone should feel each other’s pain. Expressing solidarity with Muslims, he stressed the importance of religious harmony and interfaith dialogues.

Members of the community appreciated his visit and expressed gratitude for the opportunity to highlight their issues.
