Second anniversary of martyred Pakistani-American police officer Adeed Fayyaz observed in Brooklyn

NEWYORK: The second anniversary of the martyred Pakistani-origin police officer Adeed Fayyaz, who was martyred in the line of duty two years ago, was observed with respect and devotion at the Diyant Masjid in Brooklyn.

The ceremony began with the recitation of the Holy Quran. The contingent of police sang American national anthem, saluted and paid tribute to Adeed Fayyaz.

The memorial service was attended by the father, widow, young children and other family members of martyred Adeed Fayyaz.

They said that the way the department remembered Adeed Fayyaz gave them great encouragement. They said that Adeed is no longer with them but his memories will always live in their hearts.

New York State Assemblywoman Jenifer Rajkumar and community figures also attended the memorial service for Adeed Fayyaz.

Jenifer Rajkumar said that Adeeed Fayyaz’s sacrifice was not only for his family, the police department, but for all of us and he will always be remembered.

The anniversary was attended by a large number of senior officers of the police department and officials from various other sections of the police department. Police officers said that Adeed Fayyaz was a truly dutiful officer and he did not even care about his life for this city.

Earlier, NYPD Muslim Chaplain Imam Tahir said that this ceremony is not only in honor of Adeed Fayyaz, but it is an honor for all of us who came togather in memory of Adeed Fayyaz’s sacrifice.

Participants said that Adeed Fayyaz is the pride of not only the police department but also the entire Muslim community living in US.
