DALLAS: Leaders of civil society and Pakistani American representative organizations have warned US Congressmen and Senators, who are making statements against Pakistan, to stop negative propaganda against the country in name of Pakistan Tehrik-e-Insaf leader Imran Khan or his party.
Civil society leaders were addressing at a protest demonstration titled “Stand with Pakistan” in downtown which was participated by various representative organizations including civil society.
The civil society leaders took exception over the statements of US senators and congressman over their negative statements against Pakistan in name of Imran Khan and his party. They said that Pakistan is an independent state which has its own constitution and the law and the decision with regard to cases of Imran Khan will not be decided in US houses but in Pakistani courts.
They said that some elected US Congressmen and Senators were trying to prove Pakistan as a weak state in the name of Imran Khan just for the sake of fundraising, which will not be accepted.
They expressed concern over interference of US Congressmen and Senators in Pakistan’s internal affairs.
They said that Pakistan Tehrik-e-Insaf is not a single party in Pakistan but there were some other political parties as well and the decision with regard to cases of Imran Khan was to be dealt by the Pakistani judiciary in accordance with the law.
The protest demonstration was also addressed by former President and Board Member of South Asia Democracy Watch Syed Fayyaz Hussain, President of the Dallas Peace and Justice Center Aftab Siddiqui, President of Amnesty International Dallas Hadi Javed, Senior Vice President of Pakistan People Party America Imtiaz Pirzada, former President and Board of Trustees of the Pakistan Society of North Texas Abid Malik, President of Pakistan Muslim League (N) Texas Sabeel Abbasi, President of Pakistan People Party Dallas Dr. Nawab, General Secretary of Pakistan People Party Texas Sohail Pirzada and Iftikhar Darpan.
The protesters said that problems are everywhere, including in America, but this does not mean that Pakistan should be tried to be dictated. They said that all members of the US House of Representatives who are involved in making such statements should stop and let the people of Pakistan make their decisions on their own.
It was also decided to establish an organized forum called “Stand with Pakistan”. Board of directors Muslim Democracy Watch Syed Fayyaz Hussain said that the Stand with Pakistan Forum will be an impartial forum based on overseas Pakistanis, which will only talk about Pakistan and its development and will make efforts at the global level.
He said that we believe that Pakistan comes first and no political party or personality should be allowed to tarnish Pakistan’s dignity and image.
He said that Pakistan is the only nuclear power in the Muslim world and there is a constitution in the country and institutions are organized. He said that corruption is everywhere in the world and overseas Pakistanis should take care of the sanctity of their beloved homeland instead of supporting the personality cult and avoid any action that was tarnishing the country’s dignity.
Fayyaz Hussain said that series of protests under Stand with Pakistan has started in Dallas and in the near future these peaceful protests will be held in Washington DC, New York, Chicago, Houston, California and other states, and later its scope will be expanded to the global level.
