KARACHI: As part of its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) Voice of South Asia has supported a tree plantation project at the Department of Mass Communication, University of Karachi.
WWF will plant 4,000 samples at the backyard of the Department of Mass Communication.
A simple but dignified ceremony was organized in this regard recently at the Sarwar Naseem Hall of the Department of Mass Communication which was hosted by the Chairperson of the Department, Professor Dr. Asmat Ara.
Chief Executive Officer of VOSA Zahid Rana attended the event as a special guest along with the Karachi Bureau team. On this occasion, a show reel based on highlights of Voice of South Asia transmissions was also shown to the students.
Addressing students, VOSA CEO Zahid Rana urged students to improve their skills not only in news writing but also in production methods including camera use and video editing.
He further said that the importance of digital media has increased in present scenario so it is essential for new students to equip themselves with modern techniques and requirements.
On this occasion, Zahid Rana also announced the launch of an internship program for students of the Department of Mass Communication. He said that students will be provided training in journalism which include sub-editing, camera handling, post-production, and the use of social media during the three-month internship. The students appreciated the efforts of VOSA for their department.
The chairperson of the department, Dr. Asmat Ara, expressed her gratitude to the CEO Voice of South Asia, Zahid Rana, for his support in the tree plantation campaign and for starting an internship program for students. She also presented shield of appreciation to CEO VOSA from the Department of Mass Communication.
Later, Chairperson of the department Dr. Asmat Ara took Zahid Rana and his team on a tour of the TV studio, radio station and computer lab established in the department.
