APAG distributes Halal Turkeys on Thanksgiving Day in Queens

NEWYORK: The American Pakistani Advocacy Group continued its tradition on Thanksgiving Day and distributed halal turkeys to hundreds of underprivileged people in Queens.

APAG celebrated its fifth annual Thanksgiving Day on Allama Iqbal Avenue in Richmond Hill, Queens and organized a large-scale food drive.

“This city is ours, so it is our responsibility to lighten some of the burden on those in need and include them in the festivities,” APAG President Ali Rashid said.

People from low income groups gathered from different parts of the city and received halal turkey and essential food items.

Assemblyman David Weprin, City Councilwoman Linda Lee and others also participated on this occasion.

They said that it is a happy feeling to participate in this turkey food drive of APAG every year on Thanksgiving Day.

APAG team members and volunteers participated in preparation of Halal turkey’s bags preparation and distribution. They said that the joy and satisfaction that comes from helping the needy cannot be described.

The American Pakistani Advocacy Group reiterated its commitment to continue organizing such activities in the future.
