NEWYORK: Pakistan’s Ambassador to United States Rizwan Saeed Sheikh attended luncheon event hosted by President of Pakistani Advocacy Group Ali Rashid at his residence in the New York.
The purpose of the event was to further strengthen the relationship between Pakistan and the United States and to promote the support of the Pakistani community.
The event was also attended by Pakistan’s Consul General in New York Amir Ahmad Atuzai, US elected officials, including Senator John Liu, Assemblyman David Weprin, Assemblyman Steven Raga and New York City Council Member Linda Lee.
APAG’s President Ali Rashid has been playing the role of a bridge in promoting relations between Pakistan and the US for a long time. A few days ago, Rashid also met with Congressman Tom Suozzi, in which various aspects of bilateral cooperation were discussed.
Ali Rashid explained the purpose of the meeting and said that our purpose is to promote a civic engagement and it was to ensure that we had a local political dialogue at the table. He said that engaging with local parties was the first objective of our work.
Pakistani Ambassador Rizwan Saeed Sheikh appreciated the services of Ali Rashid and praised his performance. He also congratulated him for playing an important role in Pakistan-US relations.
Assembly member David Weprin lauded the efforts of Ali Rashid and said that APAG played an important role in reaching out to the community for distribution of food items and providing services to the needy people during the Covid-19.
Senator John Liu said that the Pakistani American community is an important link to our collective success in the New York and Ali Rashid and his group of young people are the key to our future.
During the luncheon, participants discussed several subjects to strengthen the ties between two countries and objective of the meeting was to promote cooperation in economic, cultural and diplomatic fields and to strengthen mutual relations at the state level.
Later, Ambassador Rizwan Saeed Sheikh also visited Allama Iqbal Avenue in Queens, New York. Consul General of Pakistan in New York, Aamir Ahmed Atuzai and others were also present on this occasion.
This meeting improved the relations between the US and Pakistan and it is a positive step to promote cooperation in various fields.
