Pakistani consulate in New York commemorate Kashmir Black Day

NEWYORK: An event was organized at the Consulate of Pakistan in New York to commemorate the Kashmir Black Day, express support of Pakistan government and the nation for the Kashmiri people in their just struggle against the continued Indian illegal occupation of Jammu & Kashmir.

Pakistani Consul General Aamir Ahmed Atuzai highlighted the importance of Kashmir Black Day and said that the day is a reminder of the problems and challenges faced by the Kashmiri people who are forced to live under Indian occupation.

He mentioned India’s illegal abrogation of Article 370, which has led to an increase in human rights violations in the occupied territory. He reiterated Pakistan’s constant support for the Kashmiri people’s right to self-determination and called upon the international community to take steps to resolve the Kashmir issue in accordance with the UN Security Council resolutions.

Pakistani consul general Aamir Ahmad Atuzai thanked the participants of the event who expressed their solidarity and commitment with the Kashmiri people.

The program also featured a documentary on human rights violations in Indian-administered occupied Jammu and Kashmir.

A photo exhibition was also organized which highlighted the plight of the Kashmiri people and emphasized the need for urgent attention from the international community.

Various distinguished speakers addressed the event.

Former member of Azad Kashmir Legislative Council, Sardar Sawar Khan shed light on the political situation affecting the region.

Kashmir Mission USA’s vice chairman Sardar Taj Khan emphasized the importance of international advocacy for Kashmir.

Civil society member Tashfeen Qayyum spoke about the humanitarian crisis in the region.

Representatives of various political parties also expressed solidarity with the Kashmiri people of Indian-administered Jammu and Kashmir and condemned the ongoing human rights violations in the region.

They appealed to the international community to pay attention to the atrocities committed by Indian forces in Kashmir and support the inalienable right of the Kashmiri people to self-determination under the UN Security Council.

The event concluded with a collective appeal calling on the international community to take decisive action in line with the UN Security Council resolutions to resolve the Kashmir issue. The Pakistani consulate in New York reiterated that it will continue to organize such events to raise awareness and advocate for the rights of the Kashmiri people.
