HOUSTON: Former Pakistani cricketer Ahmed Shahzad said that the national cricket team has come to the seventh place in the world ranking due to the injustices in the team selection and the lack of accountability.
Talking with media during a fund raising ceremony of Darul Uloom New York in Houston, Ahmed Shahzad said that one of the reasons for the decline in the global ranking of national cricket is the lack of accountability in the team. He said that chairman cricket board promised reforms in the cricket and talked about the surgery in the Pakistani cricket system which could not be done yet.
To a query about the new captain of the national cricket team, he said that there is no visionary leader to lead the national team because the cricket board has not prepared any leader.
On this occasion, fast bowler Haris Rauf said that in the short format of cricket, the focus is more on skills than line length.
A fund raising event was held in Houston by Darul Uloom New York, the largest religious education institution in the United States. Pakistani American citizen generously donated for the religious school.
Head of the Darul Uloom Shafiq Khan highlighted the institution’s financial difficulties. He also paid tribute to the spirit of the national cricketers who arrived at the ceremony directly from the airport despite the long journey to Pakistan. The national cricketers requested the Pakistani community to generously donate for the religious seminary.
