NEWYORK: Pakistan’s Independence Day was celebrated for the first time in Valley Stream Village, Nassau County, Long Island.
A large number of political, social and business personalities of the Pakistani American community participated in the celebration of 77 th Pakistan’s independence held for the first time in the history of Valley Stream.
Executive director of the Office of Asian American Affairs Aun Naqvi moderated the event.
The event was organized by Nassau County’s Office of Asian American Affairs and Valley Stream Village. Executive Director of the Office of Asian American Affairs Aun Naqvi and senior advisor to Nassau County executive Chaudhry Akram played an important role to organize the Independence Day event. They said they have no words to describe the joy they felt after celebrating the Independence Day here for the first time in Valley Stream.
Valley Stream Village Deputy Mayor John Tufarelli, Nassau County Legislator Bill Gallo, Assemblyman Brian Cain and others attended the Independence Day ceremony as special guests, while Hamza Masjid President Sarfraz Sheikh, Nassau County Police Chaplain Rashid Khan and other community members attended the event. They said that the Pakistani community in Nassau County and Valley Stream is developing rapidly.
Pakistani American children beautifully presented the Pakistani and American national anthems, after which the hosts hoisted the Pakistani flag and the participants chanted slogans of Pakistan. The Pakistani American Community of Long Island and Power together highlighted the Pakistani culture.
On this occasion, the participants also actively participated in the signature campaign launched by the Overseas Pakistani Global Foundation to pay homage to the martyrs of the Pakistani Army.
