New Jersey’s Bergen county celebrates 77 th Independence Day of Pakistan

NEWYORK: New Jersey’s Bergen county administration in collaboration with the cultural society of Bergen county organized an even to celebrate the 77th Independence Day of Pakistan.

Consul General of Pakistan in New York, Aamir Ahmad Atuzai, cultural society of Bergen county central leader Farhat Khan, President of the society Dr. Ghazala and a large number of Pakistani American community living in New Jersey participated in the ceremony.

The national anthems of Pakistan and USA were read and the green crescent flag of Pakistan was also hoisted.

Speaking at the event, Pakistani-American Assemblywoman from New Jersey Shama Haider and Assemblyman Afzal Barlas expressed their gratitude to the administration of Bergen County and the cultural society of Bergen County for organizing the Independence Day event.

They said that Pakistanis saw many difficult times and proved that democracy is the name of facing every kind of difficulties.

Speaking on the occasion, Pakistani Consul General Amir Ahmed Atuzai said that freedom is a blessing that guarantees living according to one’s culture, religion and social principles.

President of the cultural society of Bergen county Dr. Ghazala and others addressed the participants and said that national festivals are the best opportunity to understand each other’s culture.

Vice Chairwoman and Pro-Chair of the Board of Commissioners of Bergen county, Dr. Joan M. Voss congratulated the Pakistani community on its 77th Independence Day and announced that August 14 will be Pakistan’s Independence Day in the county. Citation was also presented to Pakistani consul general Aamir Ahmed Atuzai.

Vice Chairwoman said that Pakistan is not only rich in natural resources but also has a unique civilization and culture.

At the end of event, Heeray Bhangra team performed a wonderful cultural dance while singer Sharman sang a national song.
