NEWYORK: New York city Mayor Eric Adams said that he is positive that the Democratic Party is going to come together and figure out the next steps.

Talking with live programs on NY1’s “News All Weekend” and “1010 WINS”, Mayor Adams said that making tough decisions by Biden that he was no longer running for Presidential election is really an indicator of how he believes the future of this country should supersede any personal desires we may have.

“This is fresh for all of us, the announcement of the president and let’s allow the process to go forward. I always say over and over again, this is all part of the process,” he said.

Mayor Adams said that he think it’s just a continuation of the patriotism that this president has shown the country for so many years and how he loves America.

To a question whether it will fracture the Democratic Party on the national stage, Mayor Adams said that democracy is tough, and it’s challenging.

“This is our system that we’re in. I believe he made the ultimate decision on what he believed was right for our country. Democracy is not frictionless, we know that. But we have the best product going. For over 400 years, we have been continuously showing how you have a smooth transition of power. We’re going to see ourselves through this,” he added.

Mayor Adams said that he think that New Yorkers are no different than Americans.

“We need affordability, we need public safety. We need to carve out a very clear message for the future of our country. It’s challenging for many New Yorkers and Americans. I think New York City is really a microcosm for our entire country. I’m looking for a very clear message of how we’re going to navigate our country forward and make sure that this is an affordable place that we can raise healthy children and families,” he said.

To a question about immigration, he said that  he had always stated that those we parole into the country, let’s have them go throughout the entire country, particularly in places where populations are hurting and where there are needs of jobs.

“We need people to be employed here. I think we should quickly come up with ways of allowing people to work in this great country. That’s dignity to have a job and to make sure those who are dangerous and have been committing serious crimes, they can be expeditiously removed after they serve their time,” he said.

Replying to a question about the Democratic unity, Mayor Adams said that he believed that the party can, and the most important thing we can do is have a clarity of message and direction.

“Everyone in the country should know exactly what the party is going to focus on, including border security and safety, and again, affordability, public safety, and really working for working-class people who believe the everyday cost of living is just seem to have elude them. I think if we’re clear on that message, we’re going to be successful in November,” he said.

To a question about future democratic leaders of the party, Mayor Adams said that we are fortunate to have a great bench, and he believe that if we look and determine who’s going to be the next player at the top of the ticket, we’re going to find that talent.

“There’s a great deal of talent in our country, and if we’re all focused on the same message, we can utilize that talent to really bring a victory not only for the party but for the American people,” he added.
