NEWYORK: New York’s Uber drivers took to the streets to protest against the hostile and anti-workers policies of the online company Uber.
The protesting online cab drivers demanded Uber to refrain from its exercise with regard to closure of the app service during specific timings.
Uber drivers across the city who earn jobs through the Uber app took to the streets on the call of the New York Taxi Workers Alliance and marched in protest to the Uber headquarters.
The protest rally was led by the executive director of the New York Taxi Workers Alliance, Bhairavi Desai and others.
A large number of Uber drivers participated in the protest march, carrying banners and placards in their hands inscribed with slogans in support of their demands.
The protestors said that they will go on strike, if the Uber company does not abandon the process of shutting down the app at certain times and does not ensure the payment of the minimum wage.
They said that they will take even tougher measures if demands were not met by the online cab company.
