NYPD’s MOS arranges career counseling for Muslim youth at “Chai with a Cop”

The youth were informed about how they can avail NYPD's cadet Program

New York: The New York Police Department’s (NYPD) Muslim Officers’ Society (MOS) hosted a ‘chai with a Cop’ gathering for Muslim children in which the youth were provided with career counseling and guidance.

The youth were informed about how they can be able to avail NYPD’s cadet Program.

The event was held at Al-Madinah School in Brooklyn where young people had a very candid conversation with police officers to get career guidance.

A large number of young Muslim boys and girls participated in the ceremony.

Director of Muslim Giving Back Muhammad Bahi, MOS President Deputy Inspector Adeel Rana and others present at the event vowed to make collective efforts to build a better future for the new generation. They said that since 9/11 there has been an extraordinary increase in the rate of Muslims joining the police. , the number of Muslims in NYPD is more than 3 thousand.

Various stalls were also set up in the event to guide the children. The youth were also informed about the various programs of the NYPD to benefit from the cadet program which offers part-time employment opportunities along with payment of college tuition fees for the students.

The children were very happy to have the police officers in their midst, they learned about their career and joining the police through various questions.

The police officers further told the youth that the NYPD wants that the youth who want to join the police should not bear the financial burden of education.

If they don’t want to join the police after completing their education, the tuition fee paid by NYPD will have to be returned to the department, in a few years.
