New York: American Pakistani Advocacy Group (APAG) hosted an Iftar-Dinner at its founder and the president Ali Rashid’s residence in New York.
The event began with the recitation of a few verses from the Holy Quran, followed by Naa’t-e-Rasool (peace be upon him).
The Iftar-Dinner was attended by a large number of community members including Congressman Jamaal Bowman, American officials and Pakistani Consul General in New York Ayesha Ali.
A religious scholar shed light on positive aspects and philosophy of Holy Ramzan and fasting.
Ali Rashid, the host of the event, welcomed the guests and thanked them for attending the Iftar dinner and wished them the best of the holy month of Ramadan.
US Congressman Jamaal Bowman asked Pakistani community to work hard and show unity within its ranks and files to put Pakistan on the track of progress and prosperity.
Addressing the participants of the event, Consul General of Pakistan in New York Ayesha Ali appreciated the organizers of the event and the performance of APAG.
Other US officials attending the iftar dinner ceremony thanked Ali Rasheed for the invitation, appreciated the work being done to serve the community, and wished happy Ramadan.
One of the Non-Muslim participants said:
“I do not practice fasting though, but yes, i keep fast for at least one day in Ramadan, as a gesture of solidarity with my fellow Muslim colleagues. Also, I do enjoy iftars.”
“We are all here together today thanks to Congressman Jamal Bowman who traveled a long way to be here,” US officials said.
APAG’s annual Iftar Dinner event brought together everyone from elected officials to religious people under one roof, setting a new example of promoting interfaith harmony.
