WASHINGTON
US President Donald Trump left Walter Reed Medical Center Monday evening as he is expected to continue treatment for COVID-19 at the White House.
Trump departed the medical facility aboard Marine One, and was to land at the executive mansion roughly ten minutes later. He did not take shouted questions from a reporter as he entered the motorcade that took him to the helicopter for the brief ride.
Shortly before leaving he took to Twitter to say he would be returning to campaigning “soon” as he continues to lag behind Democratic nominee Joe Biden in nationwide polling.
It is unclear when Trump is seeking to return to the campaign trail, but Dr. Sean Conley, one of the physicians treating the president at Walter Reed, acknowledged Trump will be discharged from the hospital Monday evening, but cautioned “he may not entirely be out of the woods yet.”
Trump was to receive a fifth dose of Remdesivir, an experimental antiviral drug, before he leaves the hospital, and a sixth dose at the White House on Tuesday, Dr. Brian Garibaldi, another doctor treating the president said.
He continues to receive Dethamexazone, a steroid, as part of his treatment, according to Garibaldi.
Trump, 74, announced early Friday that he and First Lady Melania tested positive for the novel coronavirus, hours after Hope Hicks, one of his closest aides who traveled with him as recently as Wednesday, tested positive for COVID-19.
The president was taken to Walter Reed Medical Center on Friday evening, while his oxygen levels dropped on Friday and Saturday.
White House Press Secretary Kayleigh McEnany announced earlier Monday that she also tested positive for the novel coronavirus, marking the latest high-profile Republican to announce their diagnosis.
While, US President Donald Trump told Americans on Monday not to let the novel coronavirus “dominate you” after arriving at the White House from Walter Reed Medical Center, where he was receiving COVID-19 treatment.
In a video address from the presidential mansion posted on Twitter, the president said he “learned so much” about the coronavirus during his stay at the military hospital in Bethesda, Maryland.

“One thing that’s for certain: Don’t let it dominate you. Don’t be afraid of it. You’re going to beat it,” said Trump. “We have the best medical equipment. We have the best medicines, all developed recently.”
Trump said he had to be out as the nation’s leader, adding: “I know there’s a risk. There’s a danger, but that’s okay. And now I’m better. Maybe I’m immune, I don’t know.”
The president also told Americans to “get out there” and “be careful.”
