If last week seemed like a mini-vacation or at least a reduction from traffic because schools were out, it ends tomorrow when students and teachers return to class Monday.
There’ll be a lot of airport traffic today from and to JFK, LGA and Newark as much return, and others leave NYC. If you’ve been able to park near a school during this past week, don’t forget to move your car. The “Heart Will Go On,” but traffic won’t move much Friday and Saturday on Atlantic and Flatbush avenues when Celine Dion returns to NYC after over a decade. She’ll perform at 7:30 p.m. at Barclays Center both nights. “Jurassic World” is there noon and 4 p.m. Sunday, and the Nets and Magic play 7:30 p.m. Monday.
The Islanders and Rangers face off 7 p.m. Tuesday in what you might call an “LIRR Series” game at Nassau Coliseum, except there’s no direct rail link. More fans will be driving on the Southern State and Meadowbrook parkways. You can take the LIRR to Hempstead and transfer to a bus, or to Westbury and get a taxi or app service.
Madison Square Garden has Daryl Hall & John Oates 7 p.m. Friday.
There will be periodic 15-minute closures of the Roosevelt Island Bridge to Queens between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. Thursday.
The New York Guardians kickoff 2 p.m. Saturday against the LA Wildcats at MetLife Stadium in an XFL game, which will add traffic to the Lincoln Tunnel and GW Bridge.
