NEWYORK: Pakistan’s federal minister for planning and development and secretary general of Pakistan Muslim League (N) Ahsan Iqbal said that Pakistan needs political stability, continuity of policies and reforms for economic stability.
He was addressing at a reception in his honor at the residence of renowned New York businessman Ahmed Jan, which was attended by prominent figures and businessmen from the Pakistani community.
Host of the event, Ahmed Jan thanked all the guests for their presence.
Addressing the participants, renowned businessman Rohail Dar said that Ahsan Iqbal has played an important role in organizing, policy-making and shaping the vision of the Pakistan Muslim League (N). He said that even in difficult times, Ahsan Iqbal guided the workers and played a significant role in advancing the development vision of the party.
Federal Minister Ahsan Iqbal said that the government was facing a severe economic crisis when it took power. He said that difficult decisions were taken to save the country’s economy, which also had to pay a political price, but these steps were inevitable.
He termed the increase in exports as the basis of economic independence and said that the government is focusing on the development of agriculture, industry and technology sectors.
On the issue of Kashmir, he said that protecting the rights of the people of Azad Kashmir and Kashmiri refugees is the government’s priority and the historical sacrifices cannot be ignored.
Describing the US visit as a success, Ahsan Iqbal said that meetings with the Pakistani community, universities and research institutions were important. He described overseas Pakistanis as a valuable asset of the country and appreciated their role.
