Pakistan’s envoy to US urges international community to take notice of terrorist activities from Afghanistan
WASHINGTON D.C: Pakistan’s Ambassador to the US Rizwan Saeed Sheikh has urged the international community to take immediate notice of the terrorist activities emanating from Afghanistan.
Speaking at the prestigious educational institution of the United States, Johns Hopkins, he said Pakistan has been bearing the burden of terrorism and instability arising from Afghanistan for decades.
He said the intensity and scale of terrorism originating from Afghanistan has increased.
The Ambassador said Pakistan has shown utmost patience. However, the protection of the lives and property of the Pakistani people remains a priority.
As regards relations with the US, he said the relationship between the two most populous countries in the world is not optional but a necessity of the times.
He said Pakistan and the US’s bilateral relations are based on shared interests and should not be viewed in the context of any third country.
With regards to India, he said Pakistan is committed to resolving all disputes through negotiations and diplomacy.
He said if aggression is imposed on Pakistan, it has the capability to defend itself and teach an unforgettable lesson.
He emphasized that our priority is economic recovery, not global or regional conflict.
