ILLINOIS: More than 50 volunteers in Maine Township, Chicago, supervised the annual Thanksgiving Turkey Drive, in which more than 550 turkeys were distributed to low-income families.
Various organizations and volunteers supporting local communities in the Maine Township area of Cook County, Illinois, held another successful Thanksgiving Turkey Drive.
The Pakistan American Chamber of Commerce Chicago, Trustee Asif Malik, Empowered Women, and Chicago’s leading organization Care & Cure played a key role in making the event possible.
State Senator Laura Murphy, Maine Township Supervisor Kimberly Jones, and other political figures were also present on the occasion.
The event aimed to financially support local communities so that they could celebrate Thanksgiving Day with their families in a joyful manner.
Volunteers provided each family with a Thanksgiving turkey, vegetables, stuffing mix and other essential items.
On this occasion, Trustee Asif Malik thanked the volunteers and the local community. He said that he want to thank all the organizations that donate their time and resources to serve the community every year.
Speaking to local media, he expressed his wishes for a happy and healthy Thanksgiving for his loved ones.
Empowered Women Representative Farwa Hussain said that we were able to provide enough turkeys for 550 families.
She said that their next plan is to organize a Christmas toy drive in the Chicago, through which they will help more families.
Like every year, this event proved to be an example of harmony and cooperation among the local community, which not only helped needy families but also highlighted the importance of social solidarity.
