NEWYORK: The New York Police Department has promoted its officers to the next level in various departments. Twenty-five Muslims are among those promoted, while another Pakistani-American officer, Asif Iqbal, was promoted from Captain to Deputy Inspector.
Two separate officers’ promotion ceremonies were held at New York Police Headquarters, which began with a march by police officers, a salute and the singing of the American national anthem.

NYPD Commissioner Jessica Tisch presented the officers with awards after the promotions of police officers to the next level were announced at the ceremony.
The police commissioner said that the crime rate has decreased significantly due to the improved performance of police officers and personnel.
According to the promotion list, more than 25 Muslim officers from different countries have been promoted to the next positions, including another Pakistani-American Captain Asif Iqbal, who was promoted to the post of Deputy Inspector, while other officers have been promoted to the posts of Detective Investigator, Lieutenant Special Assignment, Lieutenant and Sergeant.

The families of the promoted police officers also attended the ceremony. On this occasion, the first Pakistani-origin inspector, Adeel Rana, congratulated Lieutenant Mohammad Bhatti and Hassan Saeed from the Indian community on getting the post of Detective and installed the badge.
