NEWYORK: Empowered Muslim Women of New York organized an event to celebrate the 77 th Independence Day in Suffolk County.
Various activities and programs were organized to highlight Pakistani culture and traditions at Babylon Townhall park in Lindenhurst New York.
The event’s purpose is to celebrate Pakistan’s Independence Day and show solidarity and unity among the Pakistani community. The ceremony began with the recitation of the Holy Quran.
Various Muslim women leaders of New York, community leaders, and American officials participated in the event as distinguished guests.

Deputy Consul General of Pakistan Umar Sheikh lauded the organization’s services to the community. He also praised the founder of Pakistan Quaid-e-Azam Mohammad Ali Jinnah for his struggle toward an independent homeland for the Muslims of the sub-continent.
The American officials participating in the event appreciated the efforts of Empowered Muslim Women of New York and congratulated them for uniting the Pakistani community and highlighting the culture and traditions of Pakistan.
The community members participating in the Independence Day festival highlighted the historical aspects related to the independence of Pakistan and paid tribute to the founder of Pakistan Mohammad Ali Jinnah.
Talking to Voice of South Asia, President of Empowered Muslim Women of New York Shazia Jabeen said that for the first time in Suffolk County, the independence of Pakistan was being celebrated to keep the future generations aware of how Pakistan came into being.

Famous Pakistani singer Sanwal Isa Khelvi’s wonderful live performance entertained the audience with his beautiful voice and outstanding music.
Various cultural performances including traditional dances, music, and tableaus were performed during the Independence Day event and these programs highlighted the beauty of Pakistani culture.
Food stall of Pakistani dishes were set up at the event while various games and activities were organized for the children. Face painting, bounce house, and other fun activities were also the focus of children’s interest.
Local elected officials also attended the event and expressed their support to the Pakistani community. On behalf of the organization, citations were also given to American officials including Deputy Consul General Pakistan Umar Sheikh in honor of their services.
The celebration of Pakistan’s 77th Independence Day event brought together the Pakistani community in New York and provided them an opportunity to celebrate the country’s history and culture with national enthusiasm. The event has not only entertained people but also provided a platform to connect them with their roots.
