Tom Hanks, one of Hollywood’s most beloved actors, is to add another honour to his name with the Cecil B DeMille lifetime achievement award at the Golden Globes in January.

The Hollywood Foreign Press Association (HFPA) said on Tuesday it would present the prolific actor and producer with its Cecil B DeMille award at the Golden Globes ceremony in Beverly Hills on January 5.

The boyish-looking Hanks, now 63, made his movie breakthrough in Big in 1988, playing a teenager who wakes up to find himself in the body of an adult.

He has already won two Academy Awards, four Golden Globes, seven Emmys and two Screen Actors Guild Awards among others.

Tom was only the second male to ever win back-to-back Best Actor awards at the Oscars, in 1993 for Philadelphia and 1994 for Forrest Gump.

As compelling as he is on the silver screen, Tom Hanks equally so behind the camera as a writer, producer and director.

He’s had a hugely successful career spanning over 40 years on stage, screen and television and is one of the most-loved actors in Hollywood for his warm personality.
